August 2018 Newsletter

  There were 7 members at the meeting on July 25, 2018.  Adjutant/Finance Officer Ned Brooks read the minutes of the previous meeting which were accepted.  Ned also reported $7,913.12  in the checking account.

 On August 10, 2018 Commander Dave Hargreaves presented the Charron-Legion Award to Corrections Officer James Chappelow at the 108th Corrections Academy Graduation.  CO Chappelow is a 15 year U.S. Army veteran who served as a Sergeant in the infantry in the 10th Mountain Division and was deployed to Iraq.

  On August 17, 2018 Commander Hargreaves presented the Charron-Legion Award to Concord Police Officer Jonathan Galvin at the 176th Police Academy Graduation.  Officer Galvin is a five year U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served as a Corporal as an infantry rifleman and was deployed to the Middle East and South East Asia.

  During the week of August 19th, Member Henry Miller visited his home state of New Hampshire as he returned from yet another deployment with the U.S. Army Green Berets.  Henry was deployed to Greece with his elite unit where they were training the Greek Special forces. Henry left for California where he will resume his duties with the U. S. Marshall’s Service.  Henry also reported he is two courses away from receiving his Master’s Degree in National Security.

  We also have a second member that we know of who is serving oversees and that is Dave Bolton. Dave is a Special Agent with the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations and is stationed in Turkey.

  Both Dave and Henry are long-time friends and were ranking members of the Derry Police Explorers Post back in the late nineties.

  During the second week in September, the new National Commander will be visiting our state. Commander Brett Reistad served 26 years with the Fairfax County Police Department in Virginia.

  He then served as a Law Enforcement Coordinator with the Regional Organised Crime Information Center which is funded through the U.S. Department of Justice.  Our state delegation is hoping to arrange a visit for Commander Reistad to our Police Academy training facility.
