April 2015 Newsletter

There were eleven members at the meeting on March 25, 2015. Adjutant/Finance Officer Ned Brooks read the minutes of the previous meeting which were accepted. Ned also reported $7,192.34 in the checking account.

Member Alan Yates informed us he had a pace maker installed and is on the mend. Members will send a get well card to Alan. If you want to sent good wishes to Alan his email is aryfrosty@msn.com . Some may recall Alan donated many WWI and WWII military medals to our post.

Hampstead Police Officer Matt Moore is courageously fighting recently diagnosed brain cancer. He is A USMC Iraq war veteran and has been a police officer for ten years serving in Sandown and Pelham before Hampstead. Adjutant/ Finance Officer Ned Brooks suggested we adopt Matt into our Post under the adopt-a-vet program. Sgt at Arms Jim Nye will check in with Matt and his family to see if he’s interested.

The emblem has been delivered to the embroiderer and they are making some minor changes at the members request.

In the past month, two Charron-Legion Awards were presented. On April 3rd, Past Finance Officer and Past Judge Advocate Nick Pishon and Service Officer Roger Ball presented Corrections Officer Adam Bowden with the award at the 99th Corrections Academy graduation. CO Bowden is an U.S. Army veteran.

On April 10th, Service Officer Roger Ball and Commander Dave Hargreaves presented the award to Nashua Police Officer Jonathan Turcotte at the 166th Police Academy graduation. Off. Turcotte is a U.S. Air Force veteran where he served as a security police specialist as well as serving as a police officer in New Jersey. Both graduates were given applications to join our post along with their plaques.

Upcoming Events:

Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM flags will be placed on Veterans graves at the Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord, NH. Our very own Adjutant/Finance Officer Ned Brooks coordinates this event every year. Let’s get on board with Ned and lend a hand.

Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM is the annual New Hampshire Police Memorial service in Concord just behind the State House.

Nominations for Post Officers were opened at the meeting in March. The results, thus far, are:

Service Officer – Roger Ball Judge Advocate – Dennis O’Brien

Chaplin – Mark Lindsley Historian – Bernie Rushin Sgt. at Arms – Jim Nye

Nominations were suspended and will reopen at the April meeting, then close and elections will take place.

Next meeting is Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Police Standards and Training in Concord.
