There were nine members at the meeting/installation on May 18, 2016. Also attending the meeting was special guests Past State Commander Bill Hooley and Past National Committeeman George West. Some members may recall that Bill Hooley, when he was the State Membership Chairman, was very instrumental in the creation our Post over 15 years ago and George West was the New Hampshire National Committeeman at that time. Adjutant/Finance Officer Ned Brooks read the minutes of the previous meeting which were accepted. Ned also reported $7,395.04 in the checking account. Members voted to allow the Adjutant and Commander to choose the young man or young woman we would be sponsoring to Boy or Girls State.
A report was given on the roadside clean up took place on Saturday, May 7, 2016. The following members participated: Past Finance Officer/ Past Judge Advocate Nick Pishon, Past Adjutant/Past Service Officer Al Wagner, Sgt. at Arms Jim Nye, Service Officer Roger Ball, Commander Dave Hargreaves and Friend of our Post, Fire Warden Wally Eaton. It took about three hours and 21 bags of trash were filled.
Members voted to suspend the business portion of our meeting and turned the gavel over to District Five Commander Rick Dube and his installation team which consisted of Dist. 5 Adjutant Gerard Leduc, Dist. 5 Sgt. at Arms Tony Rabbia and Garrett Lock. The installation was flawless.
After the installation Bill Hooley, George West and Rick Dube offered their view on how our Post began and how impressed they were at our membership, the way we conduct our meetings and the various programs we are involved with. After the meeting, sandwiches and refreshments were served thanks to Jan Hargreaves. Jan was presented with a bouquet of flowers in appreciation of all she does behind the scenes for the Post. THANKS JAN !!
On May 20 and 21, 2016 Adjutant/Finance Officer Brooks and Commander Hargreaves attended the State Convention in Lincoln, NH where Concord Police Detective Rob Beulte was awarded the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award as well as the National Runner Up Award.
Congratulations to Det. Beulte and to our Awards Committee for choosing a great Officer.
Also at the State Convention, our Post received the 100% Membership Honor Ribbon for 2016 and the Intra-District 5 Americanism Award. A great deal of the credit for both these awards goes to Adjutant/Finance Officer Ned Brooks. THANKS NED !!
Elected at the Department Convention was the New Department Commander Tom Wiley and Past Dist. 5 Commander Gerard Leduc was elected as one of the four Vice Commanders for the State. Here’s wishing both State Officers a very successful year.
On June 15th, Adjutant Brooks and Commander Hargreaves met at State HQ’s and reviewed the lists of young people needing sponsors to Boys and Girls State. Ned and Dave chose a young man from Pennsylvania who will be attending West Point. It appears that there is a conflict between the time he has to report to West Point this summer and when Pennsylvania has their Boys State event.
There were five young ladies on the Girls State list which was forwarded to Judge Advocate Dennis O’Brien. You may recall that Dennis very generously offered to personally sponsor a young person of the opposite gender the Post chose. Dennis chose Louise Healey of Ellsworth, NH who attends the Plymouth Regional High School. THANK YOU DENNIS !!
